What is treatment for hair loss on a horse.?

my friends horses started losing her coat on her left side right by the haunches. with in 5 days it spread to the right side, withers and all of the haunches. not irritated and she wasn't showing any signs of itching till 3 days later (today). The hair is starting to grow back. but really dark. but still balding spots. none on the neck. the skin is not red. they keep her quarantined. they are not sure if it is a fungus or a food Allergy. the vet has no clue and drew blood. any idea?

here are some pictures from the 5 day mark:

hope you can help. What is treatment for hair loss on a horse.?
Has she been rubbing on something? I don't really know what else it could be but my horses do that sometimes and they look like that too. Try giving her a different food. If that doesn't work try an anti fungal thing. We're learning the scientific method AGAIN in school so get rid of the variables and see what happens. What is treatment for hair loss on a horse.?
I'm glad the vet has seen her hopefully he will have some ideas for you. She could also be shedding weird, has she been stressed at all lately? Any changes in her diet? She looks a bit on the thin side, is she a thoroughbred?

MTG is supposed to help regrow hair faster, it won't hurt and might help. She also looks like she could benefit from more fat in her diet and a vit/min supplement.
I would get another vet if you can't come up with something. You can't treat it without knowing what's causing it. If the vet doesn't know what's causing it...find another vet.
aplly MTG or mane and tail groom you should be able to find it at a local fleet farm
