FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

Tension

Too much work

Illness

Poor diet

Over-exposure to the sun

Perming

Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.

Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month 隆V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.

Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.

Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

Leave-in conditioner

Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

Oil

Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

Egg

Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.

What can I eat to prevent premature greying?

Eating seafood is possibly one of the best things you can eat to promote all-over hair health. It is rich in zinc, iodine and protein, which are excellent for the hair. So if you enjoy seafood, make it a point to have fish several times a week. Remember that eating canned fish will not give you the same benefits as eating freshly cooked fish. If you don?t eat fish, consider fish-oil supplements.

Iron is good for hair and is found in dark green vegetables, meat and some pulses. If you are unsure about whether you are getting enough iron, include an iron supplement every once in a while in your diet. Remember that too many iron supplements can be bad for you. Women lose iron while menstruating, so perhaps during or after your cycle you can have iron-fortified supplements for a few days.

Eating foods rich in Vitamins B and C will ensure that your hair stays strong, does not break easily, and does not grey early. Pork, vegetables, whole grains, wheat germ, soymilk are all rich sources of Vitamin B, while citrus fruits are excellent sources of Vitamin C. Eating adequate Vitamin C helps increase absorption of iron. Try and have a glass of orange juice daily.

Your hair will never be healthy if you do not drink enough water. Drink at least eight to ten glasses a day.

What oil can I apply to my hair?

Rosemary oil is believed to gradually darken grey hair over a period of time. Soak rosemary leaves along with a few basil (tulsi) leaves, in jojoba oil, for a period of four weeks. Massage your scalp and hair with this oil (after warming it up).

Most oils are not easily absorbed by the hair, which is why you need to leave oil on for at least forty-five minutes. It helps greatly if you steam your hair after applying oil.

Boil dried amla pieces in coconut oil until the pieces turn black and the oil darkens. Apply this oil to the hair. It strengthens hair and prevents greying.

Boil tealeaves in water and rinse your hair with this liquid 20-30 times. Then, leave on for 15-20 minutes before the final rinse.

What else can I do to promote hair health and delay greying?

Washing your hair with very hot water or using hair-dryers excessively weaken roots, and may lead to premature greying. When using a hair-dryer, take care not to point it to your scalp. Similarly, try and wash your hair with cool or lukewarm water.

Will Yoga help?

Inverted yoga poses bring a rush of blood to the scalp. This stimulates circulation and enhances hair health. Do the following poses regularly:

Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog)

Sarvangasana

Chakrasana

Other easy ways to stimulate circulation are:

When you wash your hair, keep switching from hot water to cold water.

Comb your hair regularly. A hundred strokes every night should do the trick. If your hair is curly, use a wide toothed comb

About men: How to minimize or stop hair loss, or to make hair thicker?

Anything that can help stop hair loss, or minimize it. Or make the hair thicker - maybe that way hair won't be so thin and easier to fall out.

Thanks alot in advanceAbout men: How to minimize or stop hair loss, or to make hair thicker?
It has been said that the Vitamin B6 can stimulate the hair growth. But why care? Baldness is cool and modern, especially if you are completely bold. I have thin hair myself, and shave it all off in a daily routine as normal shaving.

However I can understand it can be more difficult if you are a woman.About men: How to minimize or stop hair loss, or to make hair thicker?
Wash your hair regularly in warm water and use a deep conditioner.

Eat a balanced diet. Nutritional deficiencies, eating disorders and excessive amounts of certain vitamins, such as A and E, can cause hair loss.

Take care of your health. Chronic illness, high fevers and infections can contribute to hair loss.

Stay away from harsh chemicals - permanent hair color and perms are the most damaging - and avoid coloring your hair more than once every six to eight weeks.

Avoid hairstyles like ponytails and cornrows, which stretch and pull hair.
Hi,

May I suggest natural remedies to enhance hair quality and give hair more thickness, why not try extra virgin olive oil. (I know it sounds rather strange) but if you look into or research the qualities of this wonderful oil you will soon realize how it can heal and maintain not only hair but skin and internal health.

Try applying it to the hair and rub the scalp thoroughly twice a day and rub gently all over the face as well.

Also check out the powers of Ozone and colloidal silver, they may play a role in this area. I am already using them and looking forward to seeing what happens.

Hope this was of some help.

Take Care
There are several different products available to help with hair loss. There is one that I saw that is an FDA approved product and it is guaranteed to work. They even have a free trial offer that you can get right now so that you can get started right away. Check it out and see what you think.
Hi.

Is it true that exercising can treat hair loss?

Or at least prevent it?

PLUS, does it strengthen your weak immune system even though you are not good at exercising?

Thanks again. Is it true that exercising can treat hair loss?
Regular aerobic exercise can help keep androgen levels (particularly free testosterone levels) naturally lower while maintaining overall health, lowering stress and increasing SHBG .Stress reduction can be helpful in slowing hair loss.

So in summary, exercise will help lowering stress which in turn will help against losing your hair.

Hope it helps! Is it true that exercising can treat hair loss?
it definitely does not treat hair loss. To treat/prevent hair loss, you need to know why you are losing hair in the first place, e.g. oily scalp, etc.

If you are weak, then vigorous exercise would probably do damage instead of good. Gentle exercise, like walks or stretching or light weights can strengthen your body in general, but again, you need other support, such as good nutrition.

The good news is, if you exercise properly, you would probably become much better at exercising.
There are many forms of baldness, Which one are you interested in? I personally have male pattern baldness and the only things that could give me back some of the hair I had back in the days is a hair transplant, or I could use propecia or rogaine to keep the hair I still have.
I don't know about the hair thing, but I do know it strengthen's your immune system.
exercising does nothing to prevent hair loss

Has anyone had experience with something called Biofen for reducing hair loss ?

It contains stuff like :

fenugreek seed extract, saw palmetto berry extract and flax lignans.

Is this stuff effective ?Has anyone had experience with something called Biofen for reducing hair loss ?
There are severeal forms of baldenss. If it is male pattern baldness (Androgenetic alopecia) then the hairloss cannot be fully cured in most cases, but just frozen for some time with the treatments availiable on market today.

1) Hair transplant (FUE technology) creates really natural hairline, no scars, the best way to go if you have enough donor hair and money of course.

2. Propecia (Finasteride) and Minoxidil are the only ones approved by FDA and proven to work in most men so far.

Generic Propecia (finasteride) is also ok. I use it with same results, and unfortunately same sides(a bit dry feeling in the scalp) as brand propecia. Have tried lots of herbal crap before it and laser combs, so far the only thing that prevents my hairloss, not much regrowth, but has stopped my hairloss completely.

I buy from this pharmacy for the last 2 years - http://www.savemoneyrx.net/generic_prope/a> . It is under $1 per pill as I buy the 90 pills. (89$ for 90)

Any good shampoos or conditioners or medicines to prevent mens hair loss & helps to grow hair?

  • What food /drink /shampoo should I take NOW to prevent hair loss or balding in the future?

I really dont wanna lose hair like my father!!

I know I've asked this forget but I forget things! What food /drink /shampoo should I take NOW to prevent hair loss or balding in the future?
Actually the genes that cause male baldness are passed on from your mother, not your father.

Another thing to keep in mind is that baldness can skip a generation.

There are no foods, drinks or shampoo's that will help to prevent baldness either despite the many advertised claims on TV, they are ALL B-S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!br>

Being bald myself and at first very vain about it, I can tell you it's not anywhere near as bad as you think. In fact I've found many women who truly and actually prefer it.

Better yet is the amount of money I've saved over the years in haircuts lol, seriously.

The only two bad things are cold weather, you definitely want to at least get a ballcap, and summertime from burning.

Hair is the one thing on your body that is truly not needed for anything except vanity. It's a very small amount of insulation for the head in cold weather but not that much.

Personally I am extremely happy being bald and I'd rather not go back to having to mess and fuss like a girl with hair.

    It's actually very liberating.

If your dead set though you can contact your family doctor who can advise you on the few medically approved treatment methods. I think after you see the potential and often real side effects, you may want to heed my advice. What food /drink /shampoo should I take NOW to prevent hair loss or balding in the future?
Somethings are just inevitable, especially when it comes to hair loss, etc. However, you may not follow in your father's footsteps. Trust me, there is no magic pill, drink, food, or shampoo that prevents hair loss. Heredity governs that.
if it happens to your dad its gunna happen to you. no matter what.
MPB (Male pattern balding) is caused by testosterone, so you'll want to increase your estrogen. Eat lots of soy and grapefruit, wash with tea tree oil soap and shampoo, if you are treated for heartburn, specificaly request cimetidine. Course it will cause feminization of the upper torso... you may just want to play with the hand you were dealt.
    Rogaine
Omega 3, and don't wear hats too much or too long.
Nioxxin, you can buy shampoo conditioner even a supplement in pill form to prevent and help with hair loss. Plus it'll make your hair grow faster. No joke - it really works.
I know of no food, shampoo or drink that stops male pattern baldness. Does your grandfather have hair? What about mom's dad? Do all the men in your family have baldness? If so, you probably will also. But, that is the way of 90% of men after the age of 30 and some even younger. It is inherited and there is nothing to be done except get good grades, get a great job, save money and get a good hair transplant when the time comes. If you hate it that bad. If you have a pretty head, shave it.That is sooooo sexy!!! Don't worry! Being a good person with good manners and values is more important than your hair believe me. Miss Mary
    Don't use Suave shampoo.

Drink water, its better for you :)
    Drink loads of water
Hair loss is hereditary and tied to the mother's side of the family. It is also hormonally based. If it happens, its happens. Shorten your hair or shave it off - very popular with the ladies and ultimately a sign of confidence with yourself...
actually its a proven fact that it comes from your mothers side, so take a look at your grandpa.

How can i reduce hair fall? Also, can male pattern hair loss be controlled?

I'm not sure if my problem is the male pattern baldness or stress related ( i go through lots of it ). Is there anything at all that can prevent, control these problems. Thank you. Your advice would mean a lot. I'm just 17 and loosing my hair is sooo not good. How can i reduce hair fall? Also, can male pattern hair loss be controlled?
Go to the doctor and get a thyroid test to check whether it is stress. If it is not that and your father is bald and his father is also bald then it is hereditary. There are lots of suggestions as to how to prevent hair loss; look them up on Yahoo answers. How can i reduce hair fall? Also, can male pattern hair loss be controlled?
Have you tried Nioxin? You have to use it everyday for it to work. You don't have to use all the other products but it is advised. It doesn't work overnight either so don't expect miracles.

It might be genetics, sorry. Good Luck.

it cud b stress related, tho

don't use too much shampoo wen ur washing ur hair

    loosen up ur hair

don't use perms or hair colorings because they cause loss of hair

    good luck! :)

I have quite thick curly black hair and over the past year I've noticed it getting a little thinner around the front and back. This is mostly apparent when I wear my hair down (like Tom Welling), however when I've kept it up (which looks something like an afro) i've noticed less hair loss.

What is the best trement of hair loss?

30 years of age tryed everthing but no help.

What are some alternative medicine that has help someone.

Thanks for ant help. What is the best trement of hair loss?
A balanced diet might help as hair loss is sometimes associated with a lack of certain vitamins or minerals.

Hair loss may also be related to some medical condition. I would suggest a visit to your doctor or to a dermatologist. In Europe, some hairdressers are known for being the first to detect certain illnesses by just checking/touching hair and scalp. And, in doing so, helping out their customer by convicing her/him to go and see a doctor.

Also, I was told by one of my friends who happens to be a doctor %26amp; acupuncturist that :

    A) a scalp massage on a daily basis helps. It relaxes and de-stresses the scalp even if it is only for a few minutes at the time. Just massage it any way you want.

    B) using thick grained salt (the one used for cooking) instead of shampoo is much better for your hair. Wet your hair, rub in a handful of salt, wash and massage your hair with it then make sure you rinse it thouroughly.

That's what I do and I have beautiful hair and I don't have any problems.

This solution sounds a bit weird but it really helps.

    C) Maybe this runs in your family :-( but you know, bald is beautiful too.:-)

I wish you the best but, please, have this checked by a serious doctor. What is the best trement of hair loss?
Borage oil, MSM, biotin, zinc. i don't know the best treatment, but this is a good start. Make sure you are taking a good multi vitamin.

You hair needs lot's of nutrition. If you aren't getting the nutrition that you need for your whole body...well your hair is the last to get the nutrients it needs after everything else is fed. So feed your body what it needs and your hair will get better over time. I use a product called ';Maxi hair'; by country life. I get it online. You can email me for the details if you want to try it. It helps me. I have a health condition that effects the hormones and take this and it has helped me out. Got the recommendation from a health food store.

    - You may not like the idea of dumping egg on your head but the fact remains that it can remedy your hair loss. It's able to strengthen your hair.

    3. Change your shampoo

-Take a look at your shampoo and see if it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS)? These are corrosive ingredients and are used in household and commercial cleaners such as car wash soap, engine degreaser, and garage floor cleaners. It is said to attack your hair follicles and interfere with hair growth.

    4. Aloe Vera

-Why not follow the footsteps of the Native Americans, Indians and Caribbeans in using Aloe Vera to keep skin, scalp and hair healthy. Not only does it prevent excessive hair loss but also encourages hair growth. What can you do to stop Hair Loss while Young?
First of all I would not take propecia or any chemical or prescription treatment. I tried propecia withot being aware of the side effects. I found out later that it causes erectile dysfunction and impotence and even worse the side effects can continue after you stop taking it.

I would change your diet for a start. High fat diets are known to contribute towards hair loss. If you put junk food in your mouth your going to pass junk to your hair, since your hair is 95% protein it really is what you eat. If you eat a healthy diet full of vegetables and fruit your body and hair will get all the protein you need.

Take hair supplements. These not only contain vitamins for your hair including biotin, proteins and minerals. They also include DHT blockers or inhibitors. DHT blockers stop your body making DHT, which is the main cause of hair loss and baldness.

Use a good shampoo on your head. If you use a poor shampoo it will damage your hair and in some cases the worst shampoo's can cause scalp damage too.

If you smoke stop. In a recent medical study a group of smokers were fround to suffer higher than normal hair loss than their non smoking counterparts. The research suggested this was because smoking was reducing the blood supply to the follicles.
Rogaine may help although it won't fully restore all the lost hair. My best friend basically started losing his hair when he was 21 and now he is almost bald at 31. Your doctor is right when he says you can't stop the hair loss but Rogaine might slow it down a bit.
Hey... I know hair loss can be really a pain in the butt... but let me tell you that there are several products that might help u to prevent your hair loss.

there's this excellent product that you can try... this product works on females and males, so u can try it... it might help u a lot...

I found it on this link... http://www.all-of-your-natural-hair-back-now.com/
You can research a ton of ways to do it. Yoga may help, the headstand position was meant to draw blood to the top of the head for health. I would recommend finding a good hair loss supplement. My source site has some.
Everyone is different, but this website might be able to answer your question better than I can - I know it has worked for a few people I know. And they have a free trial on right now that you can take advantage of. Hope it helps...
I have a guy friend who's hair has been thinning out and he uses Provillus to combat it. The effect on him has been great, he's been getting thicker hair and a lot really notices it, even me. Might work for you too :)
Basically, you can do something about hair loss. My dad has the same issue and finally, he found a product called Provillus that help a lot.

To be trueful, when it happens it happens. there are products that may slow down the hair loss process, but check with your doctor.
You can start using Rogaine or similar product before you start losing it. Look at the site below, it has some great info.
Die a young death and you can prevent hair loss.
As hair loss care becomes more and more popular, you are seeing various forms of treatments that are available and it is only normal to wonder what the best hair loss treatments are.聽 It can become a little overwhelming to take this task on by yourself, so we have gone through all of the legwork for you and have provided the best hair lost treatments for you to consider.

One of the best hair loss treatments and surely one of the most popular is Rogaine.聽 It comes in two different minoxidil solution levels, 2% and 5%, and the 5% regularly gets better reviews across the board.聽 If you think you have to wait until you start losing your hair to use this product, you are quite wrong.聽 If you suffer from hereditary hair loss, you will be able to make good use of this product as those that use it as prescribed report back that at the very least, their hair loss stops.聽 This product has also been known to stimulate hair growth on some users.聽 At the very least, your hair loss should not progress any further than it already has by using Rogaine.

Provillus contains the clinically tested ingredient approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair. You don鈥檛 have to feel despair any longer. It helps to re-grow your hair without transplants or surgery involved. It is easy to use and treats even hereditary hair loss. The Provillus two-part system contains just what you need to help re-grow your hair. Since men and women have different needs, we鈥檝e created a special formula for men, and a uniquely different formula for women. Both contain the FDA-approved ingredient, Minoxidil. Minoxodil is the hairloss ingredient approved by the FDA for use by men and women.

Something that is very similar to Rogaine, but is in a pill is Propecia.聽 This has an active ingredient called Finasteride that serves much the same effect as Minoxidil.聽 The fact that it can be taken in a pill form is one of the reasons that it is catching up to Rogaine in its popularity.聽 Taking Propecia will have very similar results as Rogaine and you can use it for the same reasons that you would Rogaine.聽 If your family history dictates hair loss, you may want to consider taking this as a preventative measure and if you are already suffering from hair loss, you can use it to put that to a halt.聽 Propecia is definitely one of the best hair loss treatments on the market.

Closing out our list is a method that has come quite a way over the last few years.聽 Hair replacement surgery is no longer the joke that it once was.聽 In fact, methods like mirco-grafting have taken hair loss surgery to the next level.聽 Those that undergo this surgery are usually in and out in one day and experience little if any discomfort or pain.聽 One the scalp has healed, usually about a week,聽 and the hair begins to grow, you may find it quite difficult to notice that these individuals have had a procedure done at all.聽 With the advancements that have been make, this has to be considered one of the best hair loss treatments you can undergo.

What makeup is OK after Chemo hair loss?

My friend will lose her hair after the next treatment (probably).

Can she use a liquid eye liner if she loses her lashes? Any problem using eyebrow pencil? What makeup is OK after Chemo hair loss?
    Hi-

First, let me say I am sorry that your friend is going through this. I know this is very stressful for both of you.

Next, I strongly urge your friend to ask at the oncology center where she gets chemo about ';Look Good, Feel Better.'; It is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

LGFB is FANTASTIC! I had cancer 3 years ago, and lost all my hair (on head, arms, legs, eyelashes, eyebrows). LGFB is a class where makeup professionals come and teach women techniques on how to apply makeup so that you feel pretty again.

She'll get a kit full of EXPENSIVE make-up samples. I got enough make-up to last me another year, and it wasn't just random stuff. I got Clinique, Estee Lauder, all the high-end stuff.

After the make-up session, they teach you how to turn an old t-shirt into a scarf for your head, they teach you how to tie a scarf so it looks pretty, it's the best.

So, to answer your question specifically, I don't know if liquid eye liner is the best option because while you are on chemo you are very prone to infection. That is just my opinion. However, they do teach at the LGFB class how to apply makeup to avoid infection.

Eyebrow pencil will be a welcome item if she wants to draw in her eyebrows.

Good luck to you both. What makeup is OK after Chemo hair loss?
dontlike has some great advice. I went through chemotherapy last May and I attended the Look Good Feel Better class and received great tips and alot of nice makeup. I think I was more prepared for dealing with losing my eyelashes and eyebrows. I used an eyebrow pencil and an eye liner pencil. My very best to your friend.
I too lost my hair with chemo. Most of my eyebrows went too. I had a class through the American Cancer Society that provide info on skin care and make-up. Any make-up in fine. Although if your skin is dry a good moisturizer is what you'll need.

Check with your local American Cancer Society about a class on make-up tips. It really worked for me.
I PERSONALLY USED ALL MAKEUP LIQUOD EYE LINER EVERYTHING.. I HAD DOBULE MASTECTOMY 2 WEEKS AGO AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN I LOST MY EYE LASHES ON MY RIGHT EYE AND MY EYBROWS (BEEN 1 MONTH SINCE I FINISHED CHEMO) THE LADIES THAT HELP W/ MY WIGS SAID THAT WAS NORMAL AND SEE THAT ALL THE TIME. THEY HELPED ME WITH FAKE EYELASHES AND BROWS. THEY ARE AWEWOME. BUT I DONT SEE ANY PROB W WEARING MAKEUP, AT LEAST BASED ON A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. HOPE YOUR FRIEND IS DOING WELL. UPBEAT ATTITUTDE IT HELPS WITH TREATMENT. GOD BLESS

What is normal hair loss, and why do u lose more when your hair is longer?

I have seen that 50 to 100 hair sheddings per day is normal. Is that only for long hair? I had long hair and I was losing a bunch cut it down and now I'm not losing as much, probably about 90% less than when I had long hair. Is it normal to shed more hair when longer because the hair is in a later time period in the ';shedding process';?What is normal hair loss, and why do u lose more when your hair is longer?
I think, with long hair, there is a greater probability if it snagging when combing or brushing and some getting pulled out. Also, with long hair, ones that shed on their own are more likely to remain stuck in with the others until you are combing it, wheras, with short hair, shed hairs might fall free and get lost and thus, not get counted in the ';hair inventory';.

By the way, if you have nothing else to do but count the number of shed hairs each day, you need to get out more. What is normal hair loss, and why do u lose more when your hair is longer?
When your hair is longer it's more noticable when it falls out. The shorter it is the less you'll notice when it falls out simply because it's harder to see. The average person losses 50-100 hairs a day. Having over100,000 hairs on the head 50-100 is not noticable(shouldn't be unless each of those hairs are pretty long)
I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. Why don't you go for some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can reduce hair fall and make it healthier. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for hair loss as well as for healthy hair at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/hairfall.htm/a>
I don't think your hair length matters much

I think that is much. I'm african american and I've been balding for 10 years but I don't lose that much hair a day.

I don't think that is normal.
I started a blog to help people who are suffering from hair loss to get to know WHY it's happening and HOW to solve it.

Don't hesitate to visit my blog: http://hairlossgone.blogspot.com/

I guarantee you, you won't regret it!
i think i'm shedding way more then that

    like 150 a day

    i have pretty long hairr

How do I stop my exessive hair loss?

I'm 14 and my brush is like full of hair in 3-4 days. I brush my hair 1 time a day, and that's when I get out of the shower. After my hair dries I still usually loose another 10 hairs a day that I know of.

Is there like any shampoo that I can use that will make my hair stronger so I'll loose less when I brush it out? Or like vitamins? How do I stop my exessive hair loss?
anyway hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! Find out the actual cause of hair loss! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few. but anyway you can always try and get real results.

year ago I suffered from hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also you should use some herbal treatment.in that case Provillus is a good product that helps prevent hair loss and it is an FDA approved product. I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Provillus but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.provillus.com/?aid=749165

It restores hair follicles by blocking DHT!!!

    good luck!

not only my and my husband`s own personal experienceHow do I stop my exessive hair loss?
Do you use a brush to brush your hair or a wide tooth comb? Because if you're using a brush when you're hair is wet, it causes your hair to break therefore falling out. Hair gets very elastic-like I guess you can say when it's wet, and the close together bristles hurts your hair plus it damages your hair follicles which is also why your hair falls out. Get a wide tooth comb and brush your hair when its wet with it, and buy say a strengthening shampoo and conditioner.
There's no need to panic if you do lose some hair every day. An average of 100 strands of hair a day is considered a normal phenomenon. To minimize hair loss in your case, try using a wide-tooth comb instead of a brush. If you really want a solution to your problem, you can try using hair loss shampoos. Hair loss shampoos are meant to remove all the bacteria and dirt that causes the hair loss problems. They have to be used in accordance with other medications that the patient is receiving. Please practice reading the literature of the product before using them.
Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall.

1.Rinse your hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea this helps hair grow..

    2. A medicine rich in sulfur is also recommended as sulfur plays an important part in the structure of the hair.

    3. Massage with olive oil before going to bed at night and next morning, wash off the hair gently..

    4. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea.Massage well and shampoo.

    5. Beat two eggs, and add two tablespoons of water to it. Rinse hair and pour the egg mixture over the hair.Massage the scalp well and leave for 10 minutes. Then wash it.
the average head of human hair loses about 50 strands of hair or more

my hair iz half way down my waist and i lose alot of hair

if it falls out in clumps, then see a doctor

DONT WORK THEY WILL ONLY MURDER UR HAIR!
It's natural to lose hair when you wash and brush. There's nothing you can do. They grow back. The only time you should worry is when you have excessive amount of hair loss, like 200 hairs or more each day.
Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar (add around 2 tbsp in a mug of water and use it as a last rinse) this prevents hair loss. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.
Many people are scared to become bald, both male and female. Many of them worry when they see an amount of hair in their basin after shampooing. But as a matter of fact, our hair naturally loses about 50-100 hairs per day. The hairs removed often stays on our head. So when we take a shower we see a lot of hair in the basin, truth is this hair had been shed earlier. It is really hard to tell if your hair is starting to get thin. Bald spots may be one of the signs but there is no assurance for it. There is a way to find out if your hair is starting to thin. The so-called “Tug test”, using your thumb and index finger, hold about 15-20 strands of hair. Pull it firmly and slowly. If more than 6 hairs were removed, you can say it is starting to get thin.Hair loss can be caused by heredity and such major illness. Hair loss is generally a major problem for adults (elderly). But in some cases, teens start to loss their hair too. It is a great sign that there is something going wrong. Hair loss in adolescence stage is caused by illness or improper diet. Wearing hairstyles that pulls hair also causes it, like braids, because there is tension on it. Losing hair is really a great worry especially for teenagers that are concern with their appearance. The good news is, in adolescence stage it is really often happening. Once the causes of it were corrected, hair usually grows back. Here are common mistakes of people about hair loss. It is not true that when you brush your hair about 100 times it will be stimulated. It might only cause your hair injury. Hairs really don’t breath. They get their oxygen from our blood in our scalps. Our hair will be damaged only because of wig or caps if it is too tight. Frequent cleansing and shampooing of hair is really not one cause of hair falling. Most hairs that are being removed by shampoo are the hairs that are already fallen out. Protein-containing conditioners and shampoos help our hair grow and nourished? False. It only fills the surface of the hair shaft. Making it thicker and much smoother. We must take care of our hair to prevent hair loss, avoid too much style that would put tension on it. Avoid unnecessary gadgets for our hair to maintain its natural beauty.

Hi, I need some help with my problem, at 24 years old i start

to loss my hair, now at 30 years i lost a lot, 2 weeks ago i went to a hair transplant doctor,he said try a pill called Propecia.

    Is this pill any good?

    Does it help?

As any one seeing hair grow back or lossing more?

Any one had any bad side affects from this med?

Thanks for any help.Hair Loss trying a med called Propecia does this work or no?
Do An ANSWERS search and you will find Propecia users all say it has not helped.

After many years of research and self experimentation this was the only natural treatment I found that stops thinning and loss almost straight away and also produces new growth. My hair has completely regrown on crown. Where receded at front regrowth has been slower, but has virtually grown back to original hair line and though sparse at beginning, each month it became denser. Massage thoroughly with natural oils - olive oil is excellent - then using a palm held short bristled brush (soft natural boar bristles) brush vigorously so you really feel it stimulating scalp (90 /100 strokes or even more each day focusing on where loss is). After scalp adjusts you can increase brushing to 150 strokes. Will unplug blocked hair ducts indicated by painful small spots like pimples and a cause of hair loss and It will grow faster, thicker and It will force the new growth. Brushing before you apply oil is equally OK. A little shedding and breakage may occur at first but quickly stops as hair gets better anchored and stronger. Initially hairs will be weak looking and sparse. Don't be concerned if brushing uproots them as they will re-appear even stronger. It demands perseverance week in, week out to get the same results. I've found most do not persevere and so fail to get them. But have heard from some who have had equal if not better success. One of main causes of loss are harmful shampoos and even more harmful dandruff shampoos and too frequent washing. Do a Google to find safe, non harmful products then shop for them at GNC, Trader Joes, Wegmans, Cost plus, Earth Fare, some Walmart stores, and natural health stores.

Genetics probably are a factor in hair loss. My immediate family members have severe loss. I believe this treatment saved me from the same fate. Try it you will be happy that you did!

nothing is going to make your hair grow back.. The propecia will in a lot of cases slow or stop the progression of hair loss.

It doesn't work for all men but i have heard a lot of good things about it. I have also heard that the rogaine and propecia in combination works well.
I worked in a pharmacy for many years, and a lot of men swear by their Propecia, I heard many good things about it. I also know a man in his late 20s and it has stopped his hair loss from progressing.

My hair only started visibly growing on the balding spot after attempting the various natural techniques to re-grow lost hair for about 1 week plus

    w w w . regrowmyhair . info

I would highly recommend the website easy to follow step-by-step guide with images to anyone who is suffering from hair loss right now. But remember this isn't a miracle cure for baldness as you will also need to put in some effort in order to see results. And its only a minimum commitment of 15 minutes a day to help re-grow your lost hair. ( Sorry that I can't share the various natural techniques taught as i might be sued for copyright violation )

I am also convinced that the natural approach is much more safer and effective way of re-growing lost hair compared to those unnatural ways which may involve harsh chemicals that may have side effects.

Side Effects Of Common Drugs For Hair Loss Treatment :

Minoxidil : Cause a fall in blood pressure, an increase in the heart rate, and weight gain (fluid retention)

Propecia : Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must not use and the active ingredient may cause abnormalities of a male baby鈥檚 sex organs like erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorder (decreased volume of ejaculate) and low libido.

How Do You Get A Lower Hairline and Prevent Hair Loss?

Alright I am a teenager. I have a little bit of a high hairline and everyone else in my family (men) lose their hair as they age.

    1. What can I do to lower my hairline now?

    2. And also, what can I do to prevent hair loss? How Do You Get A Lower Hairline and Prevent Hair Loss?
If a receding hairline is in your genes, then it's inevitable. While you can't prevent it, don't hasten it by treating your hair roughly with over-processing. A good cut can minimize a high hairline as well. Unfortunately, Rogaine won't restore a receding hairline, it only works on crown baldness, who knows why.How Do You Get A Lower Hairline and Prevent Hair Loss?
Sorry sweatie but you can't lower you hairline. But it's probably not as bad as you think. Every top model has a high hairline. It's actually a great asset. I'd strongly advise you to play around with your hair, try different fringes, blunt cut, sweeping sides, longens, the lot. I think it will work to your advantage.

When I look at those multivitamins, they always have a high amount of the Vitamin B complex but I read that depending on which Vitamin B, you should take only 6-50 mg per day. How much Vitamin B should you take to stop hair loss?
The treatment of hair loss is depend upon the causes of hair loss.

And as for as concern with the quantity of vitamin B if you gain it by natural food than it is not so dangerous but if you gain it by some artificial source like medicine and supplement than take care about the quantity of it.How much Vitamin B should you take to stop hair loss?
The water soluble B vitamins (B1 - Thiamine; B2 - Riboflavin; B3 - Niacin; B6 - Pyridoxine; B12 - Cobalamin) have no known correlation to the onset and progression of common pattern hair loss. As such, supplementation with B vitamins will not affect the course of the disorder.

hair loss is pretty much inherited, if dad and grandpa where bald, you will pretty much be also. And Vit. B doesn't have that much to do with it. It's testosterone, a male hormorne, the more you have, the more hair loss, why, I don't know. But at least you're only losing hair and not other things.
I never heard that vitamin B helps hair loss but all of the B vitamins are water soluble and will be eliminated from the body over the course of time during urination. Taking more is not better so stick to the recommended daily dose.
Actually Vitamin B, doesn't do that much.

    1. Anti-androgenic therapy

This therapy is particularly beneficial in the cases of hereditary hair thinning. The prevalence of hereditary hair thinning is one out of four among women in USA. In case of women, the version of this hair loss treatment is known as cyproterone acetate (CPA). In the case of man, excessive secretion of Di-hydrotestosterone (DHT) is found to be responsible for causing baldness as well as hair fall. If you are identified with the hair loss problem triggered by excess DHT secretion, it is quite common that your doctor will suggest you to undergo anti-androgenic therapy as the part of hair loss treatment. It is a time-consuming therapeutic approach that may last even for one year or more.

    2.Hormonal Balancing

It is quite possible if you are going through hair loss problems that you are having hormonal imbalance in your health system. It may occur due to menopausal stage, or if you have experienced recent pregnancy. Even acute stressors or traumatic experiences and anxieties may also cause hormonal disturbances. Specifically hormones secreted from pituitary gland and thyroid gland may cause hair loss problems, if imbalance occurs. In that case, you need to undergo through prescribed medicinal treatment as suggested by your doctor.

    3. Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation is considered as one of the advanced therapeutic technique as a part of hair loss treatment. It can be done on both men and women. It promises you to provide fine line hair treatment which restores hair areas. In some cases, it is even hard to identify the area in the post-operative period. It is mainly done by stimulating hair follicles. This type of hair loss treatment is really expensive and is tough for everyone to take advantage of this treatment. Likewise any other surgical intervention, hair loss transplant includes a degree of risk associated with it. However, with the advanced technological help in medicinal area the risks have been possibly limited. Only, there is a chance of catching infection or pain during or after surgery. In some cases, bleeding also becomes an issue during surgical intervention.

    4. Alternative Treatment

Not everyone is really willing to depend on chemical based treatment, especially at the initial phases of the problem. Those individuals largely depend on alternative approaches like herbal or Ayurvedic treatment procedures. These types of treatments prescribe using a wide range of herbs such as Basil, Holy Basil, Neem, Tulsi, Aloe Vera and many others. How to control hair loss? Any simple ways to control hair loss? i expect the solutions which is cheap?
It would have been better had you explained about the hair loss in detail. Do you have dandruff? Or are you suffering from split hair? Every cause has a remedy. I advise to give an oil massage every fortnight. Shampoo hair regularly that does not have Sodium Laureuth Sulphate or any related compound. This is also one of the reasons for hair loss. Use vitamin E supplement, as this can bring a certain change. If the problem is serious, consult a trichologist.
try vitamin A and eat right, see a doctor if you are losing alot of hair
Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea. Massage well and shampoo. Rub oil into the scalp. Wring out a towel in hot water and wrap it on the head. Keep it on for 15 minutes. Shampoo and dry well. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.
    rogaine minoxidil--spendy

any 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor like finasteride deutasteride etc.

you can also try pumpkin seed oil rubbed in the scalp, or saw palmetto, they contain a 5HTI

if it's male pattern baldness, it's usually passed on the maternal side, was your mom's bro or dad bald? If so, start looking into saving up for hair transplants.

  • After my doctors prescribes a hair loss treatment, will this mean I will need to change my hair care regimen?

I have localized hairloss . There is only a patch about the size of a golfball , where my hair is breaking and thinning

I use hair sprays , gels , waxes and pomades in my hair everymorning .

Can coloring my hair every 3 months for many years lead to hair loss?

And if I stop coloring my hair, will the hair grow back? Can coloring my hair every 3 months for many years lead to hair loss?
Coloring you hair may cause your strands to become dry and brittle, causing hair breakage but will not cause hair loss from the roots (unless the dye caused a severe allergic reaction on your scalp) However, if your hair is fragile and falling it is best to limit dyeing your hair until it returns to a better state. Essential oil scalp massage formulas are very effective at stimulating new hair growth and restoring healthy hair (see link below) It is also important to try to pinpoint the cause and make corrections. There are many possible causes including nutritional deficiency, medication, vaccination, exposure to allergen or toxins, illness, infection etc. You will find a lot of interesting and helpful information on female hair loss at the site listed below. Can coloring my hair every 3 months for many years lead to hair loss?
If your lightening your hair which involves bleaching (which causes hair damage and breakage) I'd say yes. I don't think it would cause hair loss, but your hair will break near the scalp and it will make it appear that you have less hair.

If its just a straight color your using (close to your natural shade) I'd say no it isn't causing hair loss. I'm 40 and have been coloring my hair since I was 16 (I got gray really early) and I have really thick full hair. I color my hair every 5-6 weeks with a permanent color to cover the gray and I haven't noticed any thinning.

Remember if you're blow drying with a round brush or ironing your hair a lot it could also cause hair to break near the scalp and make your hair appear thinner. Good luck.
HI yes it can. Alot depends on the dye you were / are using, some are packed with chemicals. Chemicals can/will damage the hair.

Hair continuously grows so by stopping the dying it can help. The problem is the damage may well be done. If the dye has been getting into the routes of the hair it can then be absorbed deep into the cells and have permanently damaged these.

Alot of research has shown that hair loss relates back to deficiencies in diet and daily regime. If you have damaged the core cells of the hair, these need to be repaired. This is done by supplementing your diet every day. I found a great natural remedy at www.bring-my-hair-back.com maybe worth a try.

First thing to do is to stop dying and give it a rest, see what happens. I strongly advise supplementing as soon as possible though.
yes that can lead to hair loss but it depends on what type of hair you have and if you look after it, for example if you straighten or blow dry your hair every day and don't use a protection or you don't tretment your hair then yes i that could affect your hair but there are ways around hair loss, you should tretment your hair every week to every 2 weeks go to your hair dresser and they will direct you to the best tretments and make suer you get the right amount of vitamins.

But if you take care then once ebery 3 ,months is fine :)

    hope i have helped :)
coloring your hair every three moths for many years can lead to hair damage. like dry, damaged, thin, and maybe even hair loss earlier than the usual age of hair loss.

It also depends on how much hair your color if your just doing your roots you should be okay, defiantly better than dying your hair from brunette to blonde to black.. every three months..

    hope this helps

p.s. there are products like shampoo and conditioner that can help strethen your hair after being colored so frequently.
NO =FACT. Once the hair leaves the follicle, it is in essence...dead.

    Some hair basics =

    Flat hair is curly hair.

    Oval hair is wavy.

    Round hair is straight.

Hair is composed of keratin (protein).

The best way for you to understand hair is...each hair is like a snake. The point being, you know how a snake is covered with scales. Well, magnified hair looks very much like that. Excessive heat and or chemicals will leave the scales (cuticle) open and away from the body of the shaft. Giving the hair a rough damaged feel.

EG...how a perm (short for permanent wave) works is, the perming solution (alkaline) softens the chemical bonds in the hair and the hair accepts whatever shape is imposed upon it. Once removed (rinsed out), the neutralizer (acid) is applied and hardens the chemical bonds in the hair, locking in whatever shape imposed upon the hair. So if you think of it as the “snake”....the scales open up away from the body. You roll up the snake and force the scales to close back...now you have a curly snake(and probably very ticked off).

Products (shampoo, conditioner, etc...) are rated on a PH scale...the higher the number the higher the alkaline content (alkaline = bad = can be found in dirt = cheap and abundant). The lower the PH number the higher the acid content (acids = good = man made, thus not cheap).

Colour (professional) is composed of very small colour molecules, and activated by developer (hydrogen peroxide). Drug store colour is comprised of much larger molecules, thus the often experienced fading and harshness. The developer comes in various strengths = the higher the strength, the higher the lift (lightening). This is only acceptable to a point, then lightener (bleach) must be implemented with a lower level of developer. Maintaining the hairs elasticity is crucial = (Once elasticity is lost via excessive chemical processes the hair will become very brittle when dry and prone to breakage. When wet, chemically over processed hair will be like corn silk and stretch like crazy and snap off). The developer assists the colour molecules to penetrate the shaft at which point the expand and fill the shaft. Once the developer is added to the colour, the application process must be completed quickly.

The hair bulb (known as the root to most) sits inside the follicle and the papilla (the true root) is attached to the bottom of the bulb. Think of it as an onion, the roots attach to the onion and the soil around the onion bulb is the follicle.

Now that you can recognize the fact that I am a master stylist of 20+ years. Imagine the top soil not cared for (hard like baked clay) and the earth without nutrients to feed the onion. How will the onion survive?

Although I’ve exaggerated slightly = “top soil hard like clay”, I’m sure you get the point. It’s all about the scalp. The blood and lymph supply is the earth, and the top soil is the scalp. It has to be taken care of and fed. If not something has to suffer.

When suffering from alopecia - will dying your hair make for a greater hair loss?

I am 26 years old and have dyed my hair since I was 16. I recently was diagnosed with alopecia. Can i still dye my hair or will that make more hair fall out? I currently have roots that i wanted to touch up but am afraid I'll lose more/all of my hair! When suffering from alopecia - will dying your hair make for a greater hair loss?
Dying your hair shouldn't make more hair fall out. (I have had alopecia since I was 12 - off and on... now, just on) If the hair is going to fall out, then it will fall out. The process of dying your hair may even help. If the dye is irritating to your scalp, it may direct the immune cells to your scalp instead of your hair follicles. Thats how many topical treatments work, however, they are used daily, not just once. When suffering from alopecia - will dying your hair make for a greater hair loss?
the situation is varied from person to person.

Does minoxidil really work for hair loss?

I know it might depend on why a person's hair is falling out in the first place. I'm not losing but know people who are, and, I might start losing hair later!Does minoxidil really work for hair loss?
American Academy of Dermatology, one of the most influential dermatology associations in the world, has stated in its campaign in August 2003, that the 2 most efficient solutions for people suffering from hair loss were: minoxidil topical solution, finasteride (better known as Propecia) oral drug and hair transplant.

This in itself could be implied that minoxidil does work because it had undergone many tests to prove its effectiveness before being approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Minoxidil and finasteride can be ingredients for many drugs, but only Rogaine and Propecia are approved for hair loss problems by FDA (first one in 1988 and the other 10 years later).

Both of these hair loss treatments were discovered by chance: initially minoxidil was used for high blood pressure problems and finasteride was used for increased prostate.

Minoxidil grows hair but does not stop hair loss

Rogaine, having minoxidil as active ingredient (in 80% ethanol solution, water and Propylene Glycol) is applied topically twice a day and helps the hair growth with visible effects on the crowns of men's heads and on the forehead areas for women (but it does not cure the hair loss).

Propecia, having 1 mg of finasteride, is taken orally and decreases the level of androgens, the hormone that causes the hair loss.

While we don't no exactly how minoxidil works, for finasteride is quite clear: restrains the action of 5 alpha enzyme and that shrinks the transformation of testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone ). The positive effect is that having less DHT, the miniaturization of the hair follicles will also be decreased. But having a diminished level of testosterone can lead to side effects like: depression, a loss of muscle mass, a decreased sex drive, an erectile dysfunction.Does minoxidil really work for hair loss?
Based on researched I have done on the internet, below is some information that you may find helpful.

There is no simple answer to the question “does minoxidil work” because for some people it does, for others it doesn't. Minoxidil is to be used daily and the positive effects have to appear in 2-4 months. If you haven’t seen results after 6 months of topical application, then that is the sign that it doesn't work for you and a new drug should be tried.

The overall conclusion is that minoxidil works because it is effective at recruiting hair at the follicles, especially when used with DHT inhibitors such as Propecia. It is also true that many users do not give minoxidil sufficient time for it work. They either do not apply as instructed or simply give up too soon. It can take anything between 6 and 12 months for some to see any results. Of course, many users get results within 3 or 4 month of starting.
It has some mixed results and they can say it works because has worked for some people. A more proven treatment for hair loss is hair restoration. Hair Restoration generally costs between $4000 and $5000 but can get as expensive as $12000 depending on the doctor, and how much you are getting to restored. The website I found mentioned that grafts cost between $3-$10 per graft but the number of hairs a doctor puts in per graft can very so it suggested seeing a doctor and asking him/her about it. If I was doing hair restoration I would see a few different doctors and weigh the pros/cons of each one to make your best decision. Who knows you may be able to mention the different prices to each doctor to see if you can get your favorite to lower his/her price!
It's possible. Hair growth is more like its side effect because its primary use is as a vasodilator for hypertension. Another possible cause for hair loss is high levels of androgens (testosterone) and one of the treatments for that is finasteride which is also to treat prostate cancer. There's hair implants and other new techniques that are always being introduced. So don't worry too much about.
minoxidil is very expensive and has alot of side effects:(
If you are balding in the back first then rogane aka minoxidil usually works but, if you are balding from the front first then it usuaklly does not work for those peole.

What are some good vitamins and meals to cure and slow down hair loss?

I don't wanna take Prescriptions because they do cause side effects. What are some good vitamins and meals to cure and slow down hair loss?
I tried Rogaine a while back. It did not do much for me. My head itched like crazy though.

What causes baldness or hair loss? The term ';common baldness'; usually means male-pattern baldness, or permanent-pattern baldness. Male-pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss in men. Men who have this type of hair loss usually have inherited the trait. It is caused by increased sensitivity to male sex hormones (androgens) in certain parts of the scalp, and is passed on from generation to generation. Vitamins will most likely not help here.

On the other hand, diet and nutritional deficiencies can be a contributing factor to hair thinning or baldness. You can have your blood tested for different vitamin deficiencies. Finding this out could save you a lot of money on vitamins in the long run.

Hair loss can occur when the diet is inadequate in the B vitamins - especially B6, biotin, inositol and folic acid; and the minerals magnesium, sulfur and zinc. The B vitamins, especially B5 (pantothenic acid and B3 (niacin), are especially important for hair growth.

Essential fatty acids (flaxseed oil, primrose oil, and filtered fish oil are good sources) improves hair texture. Prevents dry, brittle hair and nails.

For men, balding process can be slowed down by taking a low-fat diet. Some scientists postulate that the male pattern baldness is tied to increased testosterone levels during puberty. A high-fat, meat-based diet raises testosterone levels, and that may adversely affect hair follicles. For example, in Japan, male pattern baldness was very rare prior to World War II when the diet was lean and healthy. The Japanese now consume a more fatty, Westernized diet. Baldness is now increasing substantially among Japanese men. Eating low-fat foods may not stop hair loss; but it might help slow down the hair loss.

Quality vitamins are hard to find. The Comparative Guide To Nutritional Supplements is an independent study done on over 1500 vitamins. They rated them with a 5 star system as to effectiveness, bioavailability, purity and potency. Centrum and One-A-Day got 0.5 stars or less. Click on the following link to read about which ones got 5 star ratings. What are some good vitamins and meals to cure and slow down hair loss?
I find a Super B vitamin to be somewhat effective. It takes awhile though. Just make them a normal part of your day, along with your multi-vitamin. I quit taking them for 2 months and noticed a negative difference. Also, there's research that shows that Tresamme shampoo is effective. I wish I could put my fingers on the article, but if you searched it, you'd probably find it. It can't hurt, right?

Okay, I just searched and here is something on it from a newspaper. Scroll down a little and you'll see the part I'm talking about. Anyway, I went right out and bought it. My husband and I have been using it for about three weeks so far. Good luck!

What is the best shampoo & conditioner to prevent hair loss?

Does it matter what kind of hair you have? I have long black hair, Im 20What is the best shampoo %26amp; conditioner to prevent hair loss?
A gentle, natural shampoo would be best. And don't forget about your scalp. Make sure you move it around every day to get the blood flowing. When we have stress, our scalp can get tight and choke the hair follicles. Hair grows as a result of friction so be gentle but give your head a good rub too. Wash your hair every day to remove stress hormones that might make hair want to fall out.

Unless by black hair you mean African American hair. If so then please ignore the part about washing it every day. What is the best shampoo %26amp; conditioner to prevent hair loss?
I have had good luck with Wildroor creme oil. You can get it at Walgreens. About once a week I wet my hair down, work in a generous amount of Wildroot then comb it into a slicked back style. I keep it in all day or overnight then shampoo with two latherings. My scalp is in great condtion and my hair loss is less.

I'm looking for a good shampoo that will make my hair more voluminous and thicken the hairs that are in my head already. I'm not looking for any shampoos that contain hair-loss inhibiting or hair regrowth drugs... just something that will make the hair thicker and stronger.

Anyone have suggestions?Where can I get hair thickening shampoo; not hair loss treatment shampoo?

I love the Thicken Up product. Theres nothing out there that will permanently change the thickness of your hair, but using the right products will strengthen your hair, making it easier to add volume .Where can I get hair thickening shampoo; not hair loss treatment shampoo?
i wouldnt use henna it can be damaging tou your hair , once you use henna a hairstylist cannot colour your hair till all the henna is out of your hair . i suggest a lightweight gentle cleansing shampoo n conditioner something that wont weigh your hair down ,avoid conditioner on your roots and just apply to the ends , avoid pantene ,head n shoulders, and fructis as they coat the hair n weigh it down try loreal products , also invest in a dry shampoo use that on dry hair and spray on the roots , too add volume styling is important and styling products , try a thickening cream and blast the dryer all over your roots in different directions as this confuses the roots and creates volume . good luck!
I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. Is there a good remedy for women for hair loss?

My aunt is in her 70s and she is worried about hair loss. What is a good remedy for that?Is there a good remedy for women for hair loss?

Female Hair Loss Treatment:Each hair grows for a period of 2-6 years, goes through a short dormant period and then falls out as the follicle pushes through a new hair. When new hairs do not replace the old or when hair is coming out in clumps or sections, there is definite cause for concern.Female hair loss comes from a variety of causes some temporary, some permanent. Fortunately, regrowth occurs naturally when as these causes dissipate. Permanent hair loss occurs as a result of heredity and hormonal changes and unfortunately is not reversed naturally. Women usually see hair loss begin at areas of parts, where parts become wider. Female pattern baldness occurs primarily in the frontal areas; then, there is general overall hair loss, resulting in a continual thinning of the entire head with the scalp becoming more and more visible.Treatments for female hair loss include a number of things:1. Diet plays some role in hair loss, so it is important to commit to a healthy well-balanced diet at all times.2. Exercise increases blood circulation to all areas of the body, the scalp included. Some studies have shown that increased blood circulation to the scalp can assist in the stimulation of follicles to begin to produce hair again. 3. There are a number of natural herbal and oil remedies, most of which are topical, that is, they involve applying solutions directly onto the scalp with the effect of opening up closed follicles and enhancing the chance of hair production. These have varying degrees of success, dependent upon the individual.4. Wigs and hair extensions can provide non-permanent relief for sufferers and, fortunately, these are considered acceptable fashion accessories today.5. A number of medical products have also been developed specifically for females. It is important to state here that women must be certain that products they use are specifically designed for them. Male hair products often have ingredients which can be harmful to women, particularly those of child-bearing age. Medical products are available through prescription and over-the-counter. It would be wise to consult with a physician first, before using any of these, to be certain that they are not contra-indicated with any other medication currently being used and to be certain that the hair loss is not the result of some other medical condition. Is there a good remedy for women for hair loss?
Hair loss can be stopped through many natural ways.

    * Herbal medicines are there to end your problems. If herbal medication does not work for you, talk to your doctor.

    * Massage your hair. When you massage your hair, the blood flow on your head is increased. When the blood flow increases, your hair naturally regrows. Studies show that bald men have only 2% blood circulation on average, while men who grow their hair healthily have 10% blood circulation in their scalp.

    * Nutritious foods prevent hair loss too, especially those that are rich in protein and have low carbohydrate content. While you can include fatty acids in your diet, like soy, fish, canola oil and walnut, you need to stay away from foods with high fat content. Omega 3 fatty acids are highly recommended since these have anti-inflammatory properties that play a major role in keeping your hair healthy.

I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. She should go for some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can

Is there a gene that makes a cancer patient undergoing chemo or radiology immune to hair loss?

I heard from a friend of mine that there's a gene that makes one immune to the loss of hair while undergoing chemo or radiology. Is she full of crap or is this the real deal?Is there a gene that makes a cancer patient undergoing chemo or radiology immune to hair loss?
Radiation does not cause hair loss but chemotherapy can and does. She just does not know that different people react differently to the poisons that chemotherapy is, the drugs destroys cells. My wife did not lose hair until her fourth treatment.

It grows back, and hair loss is not what you are concerned about, it is more of a survival thing that enters the mind, cancer is NOT about the hair, it is about survival and hope.Is there a gene that makes a cancer patient undergoing chemo or radiology immune to hair loss?
you don't always lose your hair in chemo and in radiation, hair is only lost locally. depends on how much of the chemo drug they give you and your body's reaction to it. also research the type of chemo drug and see how often it causes hairloss. but i don't think there's any sort of gene, pills, medication or treatment to prevent hairloss. if you want hair during chemo/radiation, get a wig. it helps, my friend with sarcoma says it makes her feel so much better! i personally have not had any hairloss yet. well, thinning out but nothing significant and noticable.
Radiation can cause localised hair loss in the area exposed. It does not cause generalised hair loss.

Some forms of chemotherapy carry a risk of hair loss. Depending on the drug, this may be a small risk, or in the case of one of the drugs I was given, more than 99% chance of hair loss.

While it is possible that genetics have some influence on why some patients do and others don't loose hair with a particular drug, no testing has been done on this theory as it serves no useful purpose and could only be undertaken by exposing many healthy people to chemotherapy as a control group.

No-one in their right mind would volunteer, and no-one with any ethics would suggest it.
Let's not say she's full of crap, just misinformed. Not everyone loses hair during chem or radiation.. it has to do with dosage and type of medication, not genes. There is no one who is immune to hair loss during radiation if the dosage is high enough for a long enough period of time. Both of my parents had chemo, neither lost hair. My mom had radiation, but only 3 treatments, she didnt lose much hair at all. But again, it isn't genes that make the difference. They told us she wouldn't lose much hair because of the type of treatment.
Is this the same friend that told you bc pills keep your hair from falling out during chemo? Once again, she's full of crap...as you say. Not all chemo treatments make you lose your hair. You lose hair with radiation in the area that's targeted.

Hey Dave, the chemo I am taking doesn't cause hair loss. The radiation to my head...where it went in and where it came out caused complete baldness in those spots only. The reason it didn't with your wife, is because it wasn't to her head, but the chemo for bc is notorious for causing baldness. Hope she's doing wonderfully!

Keep the funnies coming, Dave! It really helps!! Give her my best.
    crap! :)
