Can taking Prenatal Vitamins with Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo Help Stabilize Hair Loss?

I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a year and been losing a good amount of hair ever since I started taking it. My doctor is switching me to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, so I hope that might help. I've had many people (including one doctor) recommend taking prenatal vitamins, saying it'll help. It's to the point where I really don't want to be on birth control anymore. The reason for taking vitamins while on birth control is because oral contraceptives deplete many important nutrients. Some of the nutrients depleted by oral contraceptives are extremely important for healthy hair growth. This includes zinc, B vitamins, vitamin c, selenium, magnesium and more. Vitamin depletion is not the only reason that oral contraceptives cause hair loss in some people. It is also due to the hormonal manipulation and the subsequent physiological changes. One has no way of predicting how the pill will effect them until it is in the system for several months. Sometimes the pill will help a hair loss problem and other times it will cause a hair loss problem. Unfortunately when birth control starts the hair loss process, it can take more than just getting off or changing pills to reverse the process. I take prenatal vitamins to help with my hair and I have never been pregnant before.





I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see if it's ok for you to try taking prenatal vitamins to help with your hair.
