I had stress-related alopecia about 2 years ago and lost hair on two patches on my head. I went to see a doctor who referred me to a trichologist who said that the follicles had literally just frozen, but the root was still alive.

He recommended a course of electrical ';shock'; treatment to stimulate the root into growing hair again - but he quoted some ridiculous price for it - around 拢700 for 5 sessions. Don't do this - its a complete rip off! The doctor then recommended a steriod treatment for my hair - a cream which i got from the chemist which worked wonders. I can't remember the name of it but it was steroid based and you put it on before you go to bed at night. I did less stressful things at work, spent a couple of weeks not going out or drinking as much as i did and within 6 weeks my hair started to grow back. I take good care of it now, don't wash it every day and its getting thicker everyday.Any advice for hair loss for women?
I have had aleopica all my life i lost all my hair at 6 i am 46 now and it has just grown back my advice to you is this

get out of the house get on with normal day to day things

buy clip in extensions which i have to thicken my hair up and also able to use to cover bold patches which i have but the human hair extensions then you can swim in them and use hair dryers and straighteners they take Min's to put in and out and don't damage the existing hair even if its only 2 inches long and fine they do work trust me but dont do what i did for many years hide away PLEASE DONT it will be the worst thing you could ever do and dont spend hundreds on trying to regrow ur hair they dont work ...all they are is conmen playing on emotions .. try to work through it as much as possible and enjoy your self dont buy a wig either its the worst thing unless you have losted all your hair and if you have then i feel for you its so hard but alot of peeps dont understand the heartache you go through but if you need to then buy lace front wigs but try to get on with your normal day and believe me the best medicine for this is fun and keep enjoying yourself

best of luck and hold yer head up if you would like to talk about this with me as one alopician to another please e-mail me any time

How old are you? Are you having other menopausal symptoms?

If your hair loss is due to a hormonal imbalance...

When progesterone levels fall as a result of ovarian follicle failure (lack of ovulation), the body responds by increasing its production of the adrenal cortical steroid, androstenedione, an alternative precursor for the production of other adrenal cortical hormones. Androstenedione conveys some androgenic (male-like) properties, in this case, male pattern hair loss. When progesterone levels are raised by natural progesterone cream, the androstenedione level will gradually fall, and your normal hair growth will eventually resume. Since hair growth is a slow process, it may take four to six months for the effects to become apparent.
Stress is the # 1 reason for hair loss in women. Hormones too can make the hair fall. The health of your hair reflects your general health so if the loss continues or is becoming patchy see a Doctor or a Dermatologist. Myself, allergies to sulfides was the main culprit, along with other allergies and Diabetes but I have mine under control using shampoo sparingly and rinsing immediately (still looking for sulfide free) and by taking regular vitamins and especially Biotin. Good Luck!!!
A few of my friends all had the marina coil fitted and they all experienced hair loss.do you have the coil fitted? there is no medical evidence to support this but as soon as they had it taken out their hair grew back.
stay indoors, or buy a syrup.
You may have a build up of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in your scalp which is causing hair loss. You could try a safe herbal treatment like Nisim's New Hair Biofactors range. The deep cleansing shampoo should stop the hair loss within a week or two. Initially, you may find that the hair loss accelerates slightly, but this is normal and related to the process of DHT reduction.

Stress can also be a significant contributory factor in hair loss for women, if this is the case try some relaxation therapies like massage, etc.

If you are suffering from Alopecia then you will commonly suffer from small round patches of baldness. If this is the case then try Nanogen as it is recommended by the Alopecia Society.
